For Star Wars fans, May 4th is always going to be Star Wars Day, but in the world of poker, it’s going to be the day when Canadian poker pro Jaime Staples gets to join partypoker’s Team Online.
Jaime is the eldest of four siblings born in Alberta, Canada. He is set to officially join partypoker Team Online about three weeks prior to his 28th birthday.
Jaime and his brother Matt had made headlines back in March 2018 for winning the $150,000 weight loss prop bet from The Thirst Lounge founder Bill Perkins, which involved the two brothers needing to get within 1 pound bodyweight of each other in one year in order to win. Their initial weigh in was made 6 days after the bet, in which Jaime’s weight was at 310 lbs (140 kg) whereas Matt was only 135 lbs (60 kg). Fast forward to February 2018, Jaime was able to successfully lose 100 lbs, whereas his younger brother Matt, on the other hand, had to increase his weight so they could meet halfway. Jeff Gross, also a new partypoker Team Online member, had officiated the weigh-in to make sure it was legit.
Jaime is also known to be one of the most popular poker streamers out there, who has over 120,000 Twitch followers. He has two Instagram accounts with a total of over 45,100 followers and his Twitter following is almost 32,000. His Youtube channels have a combined following of 87,000 people!
There will be plans to include an all-new partypoker high stakes cash game that will allow the poker community to witness some of the biggest poker personalities coming together and battling it out on the site’s virtual cash game tables, streamed live!

As an added treat, current Team partypoker members such as Fedor Holz, Ludovic Geilich, and Patrick Leonard will take turns in hosting partypoker Twitch streaming sessions to make it more appealing to viewers as well as provide valuable insight on a wide array of poker topics.
partypoker managing director Tom Waters said, “We have been a bit behind the curve when it comes to streaming, but we are hoping to make up for lost time by compiling an elite team that will be able to stream entertaining and engaging content 24/7. We are delighted to have Matt join the team and will be able to announce some more exciting additions to Team Online in the coming days.”
